Cabinet government

Cabinet government
A form of government in which a group of senior ministers has executive responsibility, each person having – in theory – equal influence and being subject to collective ministerial responsibility: the Cabinet makes or can expect to be consulted about all political decisions. The trend towards enhanced prime ministerial power and the greater use of committees and informal procedures such as bilateral talks leads many observers to conclude that Cabinet government has been seriously undermined to the extent that the term is no longer an accurate description of how government in Britain operates.
